Procedure
Using a cooling agent, the fat cells are frozen beneath the skin without the use of incisions. These frozen fat cells are later naturally expelled from the body. No anesthetics are involved. Patients may read a book, watch television, or take a nap during the procedure.
Using an inconspicuous incision, a cannula is inserted to suction fat from of the body under the skin using a surgical vacuum or syringe. Patients will receive local anesthesia, intravenous sedation, or general anesthesia will be used during this procedure.
Recovery
No downtime is involved. Patients can return to normal activities immediately.
Patients are required to wear a compression garment and treat surgical site post-op. Bruising, swelling, and bleeding are common within the first week or so of recovery.
Results
Fat is gradually removed as fat cells expire and are naturally processed and eliminated from the body. Results can be seen in 3 weeks, with gradual improvements occurring over a period of 4-6 months.
Fat is instantly removed by suction. Swelling may take a while to dissipate, slowing the final result.
